Honours & Awards
Peter has received numerous awards over his career-related to his sports medicine, national sport and community sport awards. In 2006 he was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for services to sports medicine and sporting teams. He received the Inaugural Citation Award of the Australasian College of Sports Physicians in 1996 and the Citation Award from the American College of Sports Medicine in Indianapolis in 2000. He has been awarded Life Membership of both the Melbourne University Football Club and Athletics Australia. In 2022 he received an Honorary Doctorate from La Trobe University 2022 and in 2024 was awarded the VicSport Outstanding Contribution to Victorian sport.
2025 Senior Australian of the Year for Victoria
Peter has been awarded the 2025 Senior Australian of the Year for Victoria. He is pictured with the other esteemed awards recipients: Australian of the year, Junior Australian of the year, and Local Hero.
2023 VicSport Outstanding Contribution to Victorian Sport Award
Peter was honored with the 2023 VicSport Outstanding Contribution to Victorian Sport Award, recognizing his decades of dedication and impact in sports medicine and community sport. 2022 Honorary Doctorate from La Trobe University
